What is a fire brigade key cabinet?

A fire brigade key safe is a small, burglary-resistant cabinet on the outside of a building. It holds the keys or badges that the fire brigade needs to enter the building and the technical rooms. Only the fire brigade can open the cabinet.

For which buildings?

Buildings with a fire alarm system that reports directly to the fire brigade, buildings that are unstaffed at night or at weekends, apartment buildings, schools, care facilities, industrial estates and data centres. The fire service zone determines whether a key cabinet is desirable or required and how it is to be opened; check this beforehand.

Mechanical or electronic?

With a mechanical cabinet, the fire brigade opens it with a key that only they hold. You then do not know when the cabinet was opened.
